Vietnam Cycling Southbound 15 days

This trip is suitable with travelers who would like to explore Vietnam by cycling from the North to South through lots of spectacular mountain passes, meeting local people and learn regional culture.

Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

Upon arrival in Hanoi, you will be greeted by our team at the Noi Bao airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of day is your own.

Day 2: Hanoi – Hue

After breakfast, you enjoy a comprehensive tour of Hanoi. The rest of the day is your free time to explore the many interesting streets of the Old Quarter of Hanoi, an area that has changed little over the centuries as well as enjoy Hanoi cuisine like Pho, Sping roll… In the evening, you will be transferred to the train station for the overnight train journey southwards to Hue.

Day 3: Hue

You will arrive in Hue in the early morning, and be transferred to the hotel for fresh up and enjoy breakfast. Then you start visiting the former Imperial capital of Hue. First, there is a visit to the Citadel. In the afternoon, you will see Emperors’ mausoleums, before continuing on to Thien Mu Pagoda, which is considered to be the unofficial symbol of Hue.

Day 4: Hue - Hoi An (30km Cycling with an optional extra 40Km)

This day, there will be challenge for yourself by riding to the top of the Hai Van Pass, which is 500m above sea level. You can either stop cycling at the top or continue down the other side before ending your journey in Hoi An. In the late afternoon, let take a short walking tour through the old streets of this picturesque town.

Day 5: Hoi An

Breakfast is served at your hotel. The day is your leisure time with many things for you to do. You may enjoy a fun cooking class and learn how to prepare some sumptuous Vietnamese dishes or just spend the day lazing on the beach. Don’t forget to a short walking in the evening which the best time to enjoy atmosphere of Hoi An ancient town.

Day 6: Hoi An - Quang Ngai (30km Cycling)

Leaving Hoi An in mid-morning take the bus to Chau O. You will have time to enjoy a picnic lunch and cycle through Chau O to a hamlet called My Lai. Here lies the evocative memorial for those villagers who died in the horrific massacre during the Vietnam War. After visiting the memorial and museum, you will continue on to Quang Ngai.

Day 7: Quang Ngai - Kontum (60km Cycling)

Today is a more challenging day as you leave Highway 1 and head inland towards Quang Nam. Cycling will last only part of the day, along undulating roads with stunning photo opportunities. Ride will pass many remote villages, through tropical forests, over bridges and along quiet roads.

Day 8: Kontum - Buon Me Thuot (100km Cycling)

Today, your cycling will avoid the highway and pass through some exceptional scenery including rubber and tea plantations, and ethnic minority villages. The route is on paved roads and will end your journey in the largest town in the Western Highlands.

Day 9: Dalat (100km Cycling)

This day, you have a full day of cycling. First, you will start off riding for 50km along the valley floors before taking in the mountainous route of Highway 27. The scenery along the way is simply breathtaking. Arrive in Dalat in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Dalat (50km Cycling) (B)

Let enjoy a comprehensive cycling tour of Dalat and take in the main sights of this relaxed mountain retreat. Your tour will include the visit to Emperor Bao Dai’s Summer Palace, Xuan Huong Lake and the vibrant town market.

Day 11: Dalat - Nha Trang (100km Cycling)

The cycling of today is downhill towards the coast and the city of Nha Trang. We will pass through minority villages before reaching kilometres of pristine beaches. Nha Trang is a popular Vietnamese resort because of its great climate and beautiful offshore islands.

Day 12: Nha Trang

Free day for you to enjoy and explore the city with your own way by cycling.  If possible, take chance to to explore the nearby islands by boat for a day of swimming and snorkelling in the azure waters. On your return to Nha Trang, spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 13: Nha Trang - Ho Chi Minh City

This morning, you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Ho Chi Minh City. In the afternoon, walk through the heart of the city and past some of Ho Chi Minh City’s most famous sites: the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Colonial-era Post Office, Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum.

Day 14: Cu Chi Tunnels

Today, we will make a visit to Cu Chi Tunnels which was the scene of fierce fighting during the Vietnam War. The afternoon is your free time to explore the wonders of this frenetic metropolis. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 15: Ho Chi Minh City

You will have free time until be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
