Golden Rock
Located in Mon State and on the highest mountain of Paunglaung mountain rage, Golden Rock, (Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda) is a must-see place in Myanmar.

The Rock and the Pagoda are the third important and sacred Buddhist site after Shwedagon Pagoda and the Mahamuni Pagoda. The Rock lies on the edge of a cliff and it seems to fall down at any moment. People believe that a glimpse of the "gravity defying" Golden Rock is enough of an inspiration for any person to turn to Buddhism. The legend says that Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda is the place where Buddha's hair was enshrined and it has been the place of worship for 2,600 years. At the peak of the pilgrimage season (normally November to March) and on the Full Moon day of Tabaung in March, a lot of people go here to offer fruits, food, incense and to show their appreciate to the Buddha. Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda is a place of mystical atmosphere in the evening with lighting candles and small burning incense sticks.
