Amarapura
Amarapura, known as the name “City of Immortality" in Burmese, is the former capital of Konbaung Dynasty in 1783 and now a township of Mandalay.
Places of interest in Amarapura are Pahtodawgyi Pagoda, U Bein Bridge across the Taungthaman Lake, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, Nagayon Pagoda, Mahagandayone Monastery. The township is known today for its traditional silk, bronze casting and cotton weaving.
