People's Square and Park

Occupying 130 acres, The People's Square and Park is one of the major parks surrounding the Shwedagon Pagoda and the Parliament Building.
In both the square and park, there are thousands of plants, trees and flowers. The area of the People's Square and People's Park was a part of the palace during the reign of Queen Shin Sawbu, and then a golf course during the colonial period. Nowadays, the Square is used for holding many National Events such as Independence Day, Union Day, and National Day. The Park is usually crowded with locals coming for relaxation during the weekends. 

Opening Hours: 07:00 – 19:00 except national holidays 
Location: Near the Shwedagon Pagoda.
