Thanlyin

Famous for ancient buildings and religious architecture, Thanlyin is reached by one-hour drive from Yangon, across Myanmar's longest bridge.
Visitors going to the area expect to see the ruins of an 18th century Portuguese church, and Ye Le Paya (the pagoda at the centre of the river) which contains pictures of other famous pagodas in other parts of Myanmar. The famous golden Kyaik-khauk Paya can be reached by a short bus ride out of town, rising on a hill. In front of the Paya are the tombs of two famous Myanmar Poets Laureate; Natshinaung and Padethayaza. This area is also famous for the tradition ceramic production at Bogyoke Village.
